The project 'Leuk voor Elkaar Alphen' brings together people over 60 in a unique way to do fun things together. At the joint meetings, the computer plays an important role with social media, games and virtual worlds.

Prevent boredom and loneliness

"After an active working life I was worried that my life would become less meaningful and that I would get bored," says Hein de Graaf (71) from Koudekerk aan de Rijn and initiator of the project. "But together with others I discovered that the 'online world' on computer and tablet can mean everything for me and other peers: socializing, having fun together, assisting each other in advice and action, trusting each other, participating in fun activities together, working together getting to know new people, or maintaining and strengthening old friendships. "

Discover the world online

"We hear and read daily that many enjoy the 'new media'. This is about social networks, communication, games, mobile phones and tablets that can do everything. But we also hear that it is 'nothing for the elderly'. Well, I do not believe that at all! I therefore want to help others discover this new world. Each in its own way and at its own pace. And both meant for people who do not do anything with it yet, and for those who already know how to find their way in the online world ", says De Graaf.

Partners found

In order to achieve this, De Graaf has established the Coöperatie VayaV in which everyone can work together to achieve this goal. From VayaV he went looking for local partners and subsidies. "I got a number of parties enthusiastic about my ideas and they are now partners in the project, such as Actief Rijnwoude, Tom in de Buurt, the library  "Rijn en Venen" and alderman Han de Jager from the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn", says De Graaf. The partners see the new online resources as a very interesting addition to their existing contact promotion activities.

Financial support

The project is financially supported by the Sluyterman van Loon Fonds and the RCOAK.
